Two great forces are currently locked in a crucial battle. Tragically, this struggle is barely noticed. The combatants are Reality and Artificiality.
It is a very uneven fight. Almost all of the power centers of society are on the side of artificiality. Most of the political, economic and tech “deciders” seek increased Connectivity, which actually means increased Dependency.
These control freaks, who I refer to as our Malignant Overlords, want us implanted with I.D. chips, Neuro-linked to The Cloud and filled with nano-bot mRna concoctions. That is what they desire for our bodies.
Their future vision of our external world is equally sinister and depraved. They want to destroy our autonomy and self-reliance.
We will have to eat their laboratory-spawned insect goo. Since they don’t even want us to be the masters of our own vehicles, they will keep steering us towards driver-less cars. They will separate us from the natural world of farms, mountains and valleys. Instead, we will be corralled into mega-cities of steel and concrete, while being bathed in electro-magnetic force fields.
For thousands of years, the Worst Among Us have been driven by a psychotic Lust for Power. History is an almost unbroken cavalcade of tyrants rising, destroying and being replaced by the next violent maniac. But as evil as their desires and actions were, they pale when compared to the villains of our era.
That is because our current self-appointed Elites do not just seek to rule over us. Instead, they want to transform our very essence as people. They intend to “augment” the biological, carbon-based human being into a synthetic, silica-based cyborg. Mutants make better slaves.
They have already socially engineered us down into pathetic, dependent, bulbous, unskilled consumers.
Their calculators mean we can’t do arithmetic. Their spell-checkers decrease our ability to spel. Their GPS screens deprive us of the capacity to read a map.
Their electronic screens deluge us with a Kaleidoscopic Kornucopia of Kaos. They tell us that men can chest feed infants. That British monarchs were Negroes. And that Diversitocracy is better than Meritocracy. This lunacy is deliberately promoted in order to disorient and confuse us, so that we question our own ability to observe and evaluate.
It has become dramatically more difficult to distinguish between what is true and what is false. I have personally watched a friend type some prompts into an AI chat bot on his phone. Then a couple of minutes later it had created a short, high-quality video incorporating information from his prompts.
All of this is terrifying to me, but most people are just embracing it mindlessly. Big brain thinkers such as Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak have warned that the consequences of this AI avalanche could not only be disastrous, but actually DEADLY for the future of Homo Sapiens.
There is some push-back against this unfolding Brave Neuro World, but most of the criticisms center around Operational issues. How can we keep the little people from rebelling when AI and robots take over their jobs? Will a Universal Basic Income sedate them enough to keep them from taking up pitch-forks and torches?
How do we engineer safety features into robots so that they do not turn on their creators and go full I ROBOT?
When Artificial General Intelligence systems are upgraded to Artificial Super Intelligence, how will we circumvent HAL, and get the pod bay doors to open?
But my major concern is with the Philosophical issues. So-called Technological Advancements should promote Human Flourishing. However, the main beneficiaries of this Trans-humanist Dystoposphere are the tiny group of people who already possess enormous wealth and power.
Certainly, they will market it in a benevolent fashion. They will advertise the possible medical miracles. They will claim that Chat GPT will turn everyone into artistic geniuses. They will argue that AI friends can substitute for real friends.
But what they do not reveal is that most of us will get the AI chip that turns us into electronic Slaves. Whereas, their AI upgrade turns them into Masters. Ours will have an expiration date. Theirs will have an immortality interface.

How can this evil human future be resisted and defeated? Today, there is a tiny group that can serve the same purpose as did the tiny group of monks during the Dark Ages. Hidden away in their monasteries, they conserved the best of human achievement. When the Darkness passed, their efforts led to the renewal of beauty and wisdom that became The Renaissance.
Sea Gypsy Tribes are the group ideally suited to be the protectors of the genuine, biological, carbon-based, non-augmented Human Being. When the Malignant Overlords start forcing people to accept digital I.D.s and brain chips, the Tribes will stealthily head out to Sea. Groups of 6 to 10 sailboats, situated all around the world, filled with like-minded people will rendezvous at isolated islands.
Since we often spend weeks on the ocean, we already have onboard systems and skills for long-term self-reliance. Wind turbines and solar panels for electricity to power lights, refrigerators, computers and radios. Propulsion comes from the sails, and when becalmed, we have diesel engines. Our water and fuel tank capacities are usually quite large and sufficient.
Invisibility is a significant advantage for the Sea Gypsy Tribes. Any electronic device that could track us can easily be turned off. Each Tribe would have a couple of celestial navigators who just need their sextants and the Sky.
So GPS would be by-passed, thus making us much more difficult to locate. Most importantly, hardly anyone in power would even know that we exist, so they would not be searching for us.
Our mission would be to simply survive and flourish as tiny floating communities of authentic human beings. That is because we suspect that the Trans-humanist project will eventually destroy itself. Its downfall could come from not enough electricity or megalomaniac power struggles or a robot rebellion or some other catalyst.
In the meantime, we would be fishing the Sea and foraging the Shore like our seaside ancestors did for thousands of generations before the arrival of Agriculture only about 10,000 years ago.
The Sea Gypsy Tribes would head for little bays in remote areas where they could live on their boats, but also set up shore-side activities like gardening and raising small livestock.
Unbelievable as it may seem, there are still places where 10 boats can have a small island or cove to themselves. In fact, I am writing this essay in one such archipelago. Other examples include, Patagonian Chile, the Philippines, Vancouver Island, Indonesia and the Pacific coast of Panama.

We can hope that at some point, the megalomaniacs who are trying to play God with our very nature, will realize how evil their plans are. But is that not the hope of a Fool?
I prefer the more realistic hope that Sea Gypsy Tribes will raise their sails and seize their destinies as protectors of our imperfect but magnificent species.
